Qualifying Stage

Burning Skies has been well…BURNING from all the action going on since official competition kicked off this February!

A lot has been on the line for the valiant WWII pilots flying on Burning Skies server – during the first 10 days, the server hosted a qualifying phase to determine who was going to earn the right to fight in Grudge Match 4, a premium DCS PvP event sponsored by DCS makers themselves: Eagle Dynamics!

E.D will reward each member of the winning team with a free copy of the eagerly awaited, Normandy terrain for DCS World! This magnificent module has been in the making for some time now and will be the first dedicated terrain to the WWII Europe 1944-1945 DCS project!

Order of Battle

Now, lets have a look at what we have in store for this Saturday! These are the official prelim results and roster ahead of Grudge Match 4!

Luftwaffe ( 5 x Bf-109K-4 + 1 x Fw-190D9)

DavidRed topped the quals with staggering stats! 162 aerial victories in total among which 94 achieved in a row, making him the longest streak holder! DavidRed also achieved 8.1 as a Kill/Loss ratio, yet again the highest of the prelims on top of being the only pilot with over 2 kills per sortie.

These frightening statistics speak volumes about DavidRed’s skills and proficiency in his dreaded Bf-109K-4! It goes without saying that he will be the tip of the spear for the Luftwaffe and a formidable foe to his opponents on Saturday!

DavidRed will also have top notch wingmen backing him up – Daniel and Mad from his very own squadron the 9./JG27 who have also achieved amazing stats in the prelims in addition to two other heavyweights of WW2 air combat: DarkRaiderss and DefaultFace – these two gentlemen were the authors of 64 and 73 kills respectively and were both boasting Kill/Loss ratios over 3!

Saburo will be the only player flying the Fw-190 Dora, which is known to be an excellent boom&zoom platform so this will likely add more challenges to enemy fighters.

RAF (3 x SpitfireLFMkIX + 3 x P-51D)

Allies do have very strong assets and will surely not shy away from the fight! CMF and RF Jack from Firmament Fighters Squadron were super impressive in the prelims – CMF finished second overall behind DavidRed achieving in the process a Kill/Loss ratio of 8 in over 14 hours of combat while his buddy RFJack splashed 110 enemy fighters!

FF guys will be flying the legendary North-American P-51D Mustang and will count on the experience of Showtime, Major, Solty as well as current top ranked and last Bf-109 1v1 champion, Stuge to take German fighters into deep waters!

Pre-Match Briefing Video

As always, Hook came up with a great pre-show video to present the layout of the mission – a must watch!
You’ll immediately notice that the only path to victory for both teams is to push forward, which will guarantee an action-packed showdown!
