Highlights

As expected, the Joint Warrior 3 event has been an outstanding showdown of aerial combat skills. We’ve had a lot of top DCS combat pilots displaying some fantastic flying in very tricky situations where there was simply no room for error.

Team Red, led by 51st & UVAF and team blue led by the 104th had the honor to battle it out in the final after they both won their preliminary fights against two other coalitions formed by independent pilots as well as members from TAW, 56th, 57th and 71st squadrons.

The final fight turned out to be an intense battle of nerves for almost an hour and a half, with both teams doing an excellent job at protecting their ground troops at the target area.
Dead lock was finally broken when Red pilots called Sukhumi ‘green’, which means that at that moment, it was not protected anymore as enemy fighters retreated to rearm and refuel.
This is when some of the best parts of the battle took place as Wizard and Omny from the Virtual Ukrainian Air Force, flying Su-25T’s, succeeded in annihilating almost all of the Sukhumi ground troops in less than 5 minutes, securing in the process a comfortable 160 points lead.

With their backs against the wall and the clock ticking past 2 hours, 104th fighters had no choice but to try to push harder through the enemy’s line of defense in an attempt to open a breach over Sochi. Despite courageous efforts, Sochi remained out of reach as 51st and UVAF pilots defended it ferociously. The air battle resulted in three kills against two in favor of the 104th, but that wasn’t enough to level the scores before time was up.

Top Performers

We’ve had over 50 pilots partaking in JW3; 29 managed to score SA points.

<51>Frostie has been the author of the best air-to-air performance with 4 confirmed kills for one loss. The 51st veteran showed outstanding close range air combat skills, especially in the first battle shooting down 3 TAW fighters within visual range. Through this performance, Frostie has earned a place among the top 3 air-to-air combat pilots.

After yet another solid display, Maverick is still reigning at the very top of the air-to-air rankings in addition to reaching a new milestone in the hall of fame as he becomes the second pilot to hit 6 months as the top ranked pilot. With such consistency, Maverick may well break this record very soon.

Mustang, Highway, Spade, Teknetinium and Mad Max produced one of their best performances during JW3 as they all share the runner-up position.

In the air-to-ground arena, Wizard, through the outstanding attack that he pulled off at Sukhumi in the Red vs Blue battle, has produced JW3 best ground pounding performance with 10 confirmed kills in less than 5 minutes. Pylot claims second place, Panthir third while Omny takes 4th position.
